Every business leader would love to realize the vision of being anticipatory, adaptable and versatile. Driving out software more rapidly is undeniably useful in this quest but by itself is not sufficient. Change professionals must now develop all business capabilities to continuously adapt, keep products and services relevant longer and establish flexible ways of working.

Many domains must work and change in concert including business processes, requisite capabilities, shared information, supporting technologies, business decisions and rules, and even the business model itself. This requires a value delivery perspective from customer back to customer, and across a whole value chain with complete alignment. With the move to a digitalized planet, the challenge is more acute since services and data must now be connected in support of a full customer journey serving multiple personas, scenarios, channels and touch points.

This session will introduce some key requirements to work towards true business agility. Borrowing from the recently published ‘Business Agility Manifesto’ - co-authored by the session leader - it will describe what’s needed to thrive on uncertainty and to be able to reconfigure the business rapidly and effectively.

  •  Attributes of business agility
  • The critical role of architecture and shared knowledge to enable confident and easy change
  • How to use process , capability and other models to make fast design decisions
  • Case study illustration of an international merger
