In many organizations the ITSM function is operating in isolation of technology modernization efforts such as cloud technology initiatives, with seemingly very little in common between these teams with respect to their goals and objectives. In this session, John will describe that this does not have to be the case, and in fact, cloud platform implementations have many of the same objectives that are associated with traditional service management programs.

John Carter has nearly 25 years of experience in the IT industry, having held a variety of positions in both the private and public sectors. John has been with the City of Ottawa since 2006, currently holding the position of Cloud Solution Project Manager. In his current role, John is responsible for a team that is implementing and supporting the City’s Azure Cloud platform. Prior to that, John was responsible for implementing IT Service Management processes for the IT services department, as well as improvements to the software tools that support those processes. John is certified in both ITIL Managing Professional (MP) and ITIL Strategic Leader (SL). John is also a Microsoft Certified Azure Solution Architect Expert. John is a proud Nova Scotian who has a degree from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax.
